That number is already difficult to comprehend, but here’s the truly astonishing part: the entire existence of modern humanity accounts for only about 0.004% of that vast timeline. In other words, for 99.996% of its history, Earth has carried on its dramatic, event-filled adventure without us.

The Inferno and the Impact: Earth’s Violent Beginnings
Our planet began not as a gentle blue marble, but as an inferno. It was formed from the swirling dust and gas of the solar nebula, a chaotic environment immersed in constant bombardment by meteorites and volcanic explosions.

This newborn world was soon subjected to the largest event in its history: a colossal impact with another planetary body, often named Theia. The resulting debris cloud eventually coalesced to form our Moon.
